Ten Lessons Every New Mom Needs to Know
Being a mom is one of the most rewarding jobs on earth. Every day you nurture and protect these little ones, helping them to become the people they're meant to be. You play hide-and-seek with them, cover their boo- boo’s with a bandaid, and teach them manners. You tuck them in, say their prayers, and wish them sweet dreams.
Motherhood is a high and holy calling. It’s a picture of the unconditional love God feels for us.
But you also know that being a mom is hard. Really hard.
The moms I work with know all about that. Over the past couple of months, I’ve interviewed them about the greatest lessons they’ve learned from motherhood. We’ve talked about the joys and challenges of raising kids and how being a parent changes you.
I’ve learned that every mom struggles with the same things.
You worry that you just aren’t doing a good enough job, or that something you say or do will permanently damage your kid. You struggle to be present, and worry that you might miss something in your child's life. More than anything, you fear for their safety and want to protect them from pain, while knowing you can't.
No one has it all figured out.
My collector Lauren says, “the more we can support each other and not engage in “mompetition,” the more we can learn from one another and be a healthy community.”
So I took the best pieces of advice from these moms and put them in a free ebook.Lessons of Love is a collection of ten inspiring quotes in answer to the question: If you could give one piece of advice to a new mom, what would it be?
In this book you’ll find topics on everything, from learning to be present, to dealing with your worries, to making each moment count. There’s wisdom on marriage, faith, and parenting from moms just like you, told in a funny, honest, no-B.S.-kinda-way.
