One important thing I've learned from painting portraits is that every child needs to know they are important. They want to feel loved and valued for who they are, not what they do or what others think of them. Each portrait I paint is about honoring the uniqueness of the child.

This subject is so fascinating to me because some of the most painful times in my life have been when I’ve tried to earn the love and approval of others. I needed that love without it I felt like my life had no value.
Maranisha is the kind of girl you just want to be around. With her beautiful smile, infectious laugh, and sunny disposition, she’s someone the younger girls look up to. She started going to Streets three-and-a-half years ago, when she heard all her friends talking about it. She’s now actively involved, regularly attending the camps, block parties, bible studies, and clubs.
Every mom I’ve talked to expresses this same fear – that they might miss something in their child’s life. With the craziness of life and all there is to think about, it can be really hard to be in the moment and just enjoy your kids.
