About the Artist
Once upon a time...
there was a young girl who loved to make art. She was talented but shy, and felt different from the other girls in her class.
Every day...
she'd hide in the bathroom during lunch, reading to pass the time.
One day...
a new teacher noticed her sitting in the back. She brought her out and made her feel special, like she was part of the group. Kate blossomed and made lots of new friends.
Because of that...
she gained confidence and learned it was OK to be herself. She embraced the things that made her unique, and felt like she’d been given a special talent for painting portraits. Her dream was to become a professional artist.
Because of that...
she practiced every day and never gave up on her dream, even when she grew up. She studied art as a college student and worked several jobs so she could save enough money to make art full-time.
Until finally...
she quit her day job and never looked back. She gained success by painting portraits of children. She realized she could help kids have confidence in themselves by capturing what makes them unique.
