Every parent wants their children to know they are loved unconditionally.

It can be hard, though, to express that in a meaningful, lasting way. Because of the values of the world we live in, it’s so easy for kids to grow up believing that their worth comes from their achievements, looks, and the opinions of others.

I know, because for years I struggled to find my identity in how well I performed – if I was doing everything perfect, then I had worth. If I failed, I felt empty and hopeless.

It’s been a rocky road, but through God’s grace I’ve eventually come to experience his unconditional love and acceptance that’s not based on what I do, but who I am. I still struggle (Hi I’m Kate; and I’m a perfectionist… Hi, Kate), but I’ve seen a ton of victory in this area of my life.

I believe that parents play a crucial role in developing a child’s sense of self-worth. That’s why it’s my mission to help parents express the love the feel for their kids through my art.

Each portrait I paint honors the inherent worth in a child and celebrates what makes them unique. My art helps them feel unconditionally loved and valued.

Now, I’m not going to pretend that there aren’t other ways of expressing your love for your child. You can tell them that every day, you can have their picture taken, or throw them a birthday party. You don’t need a portrait to do that.

But my collectors say that a portrait celebrates and honors their child in a special way. It helps them deepen and strengthen their relationships with their children. The child might not fully understand the depth of love his or her parent feels, but their portrait is a way to say “I love you” that endures.
